Background: Ph.D. in computer science at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.
Research Interests:Human-Centred AI (HCAI) and Human-Centred Design (HCD), with a particular focus on Responsible AI, Ethical AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Human-Computer Interaction, User-Adaptive Systems and Usability.
Experience: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ernesto William De Luca is head of the Human-Centred Technologies for Educational Media department at the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research - Member of the Leibniz Association (GEI) and from October 2019 has been appointed as a Full Professor in Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany. In addition, in May 2015 he was appointed by the Guglielmo Marconi University of Rome as an associate professor in “computational engineering”. He studied computational linguistics at Bielefeld University, whereupon he took a position as a research fellow in the research institute ITC-IRST (now FBK) in Trento, Italy. He then gained his doctorate in computer science from the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg with a thesis on “Semantic support in multilingual text retrieval”. After completing his PhD and undertaking post-doctoral work at the Otto von Guericke University, he was head of the “Information Retrieval and Machine Learning” competence center at the Technische Universität Berlin’s “Distributed Artificial Intelligence Laboratory” (DAI-Labor). From October 2012 until March 2015 he had a full professorship in “information science” (W2) and was head of their Institute for Information and Documentation (IID) and vice-president for International and Information Technology at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (FHP). He has written over 160 papers for national and international conferences and journals, organized and chaired numerous workshops, and is regular reviewer and programme committee member of different high-profile journals and conferences.

Research Interests:Research interests include the Internet of Things (IoT) and the development of Human-Centered AI (HCAI) applications within IoT ecosystems, focusing on creating intelligent, responsive, and user-centric IoT solutions.
Experience: Massimiliano Tarquini is an experienced software developer with over
25 years of expertise in software architecture and engineering. He has collaborated with
prestigious institutions such as the Georg Eckert Institute, Linkampus University, Otto von
Guericke Universität Magdeburg, and leading companies like Legrand.
His career includes university teaching, the role of Senior Full Stack Software Architect and
Engineer. He has worked on complex projects related to Artificial Intelligence, large-scale
infrastructures, and cybersecurity in both civilian and military contexts.
Massimiliano is also an active member of European research projects, contributing to the
development of innovative solutions in the fields of cybersecurity and IoT.
He has taught programming languages and published numerous academic articles, contributing to
open-source projects and demonstrating a strong commitment to knowledge sharing.
In his free time, he dedicates himself to archery as a coach for FITARCO Italia, supporting
young athletes and people with disabilities.
